KJ Lacey Talks Tennessee At Elite 11 Regionals
"I like a guy that's ready to compete. Period."
That's a quote from someone I spoke with on the sidelines of the Elite 11 Regionals in Atlanta, Georgia. The prospect they were referring to was 2025 four-star quarterback KJ Lacey, who registered for the event the night before, yet came out and shined against other Power-5 quarterbacks. Lacey delivered a slew of impressive deep balls, flashing his patented quick release.
Lacey caught up with Volunteer Country during the event to update his recruitment. He named Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas three of his favorite schools. During conversations, Lacey also mentioned other programs like Oregon and Ole Miss, and it seems his recruitment is quite open. However, he does have a list of favorites that he's keeping a close eye on. Lacey named Tennessee as one of his top schools, mentioning his relationship with the coaching staff as a driving factor.
"I talk with them on a weekly basis, every other week basis, somewhere in there. Whenever the coaches get together, I try to call them. I think I'm going up there for a camp in June, maybe on the 25th."
While the Vols have piqued his interest early, pulling him away from the in-state Crimson Tide will be tough. He is teammates with 2025 Alabama wide receiver commit Ryan Williams and is quite familiar with the Tuscaloosa campus. Lacey confirmed that he will be in Alabama sometime during June and has already visited 7-8 times. Lacey also plans to visit Texas on June 3 and is ironing out several other summer visits.
