College recruiting typically takes off during the summer when commits begin to fly before prospects begin their senior season. Most Tennessee targets will take their time, but one is about to come off the board.

On Thursday, defensive back Marcus Goree released a top-five of Tennessee, Michigan State, Michigan, Nebraska, and Colorado. Goree didn't initially set a commitment timeline, but on Friday, he announced that he would commit on Saturday evening.

Goree is one of the more under-the-radar prospects that Tennessee is after but has seen a boost in activity since his junior season ended. He holds 20 offers and has added three P5 offers since November.

While his recruiting ranking may not reflect his abilities, the schools pursuing him do. All five schools are major programs trending upward; Colorado and Nebraska are two of the hottest teams on the recruiting trail after hiring new head coaches.

Some evaluators are skeptical of the size. Goree is 6-0.5 and 170 lbs., not overly intimidating. However, he has a body of work that supports his becoming an impactful player in college. He reads the ball carrier well and remains in constant pursuit, ensuring he makes the tackle.

Goore's process is quick; he configures what is happening before patiently shading and then exploding. He does a nice job powering his hips through the transition and getting to top speed.

His top speed isn't out of control; Goore never appears reckless or lost. He ensures he knows what is happening before he commits and breaks on the football, often delivering a jarring hit at the point of contact. Reports indicate he can run a 4.4-second 40-yard dash.
