Mike Matthews Generating Buzz At UA All-American Camp

Athlete Mike Matthews had a big performance at the Under Armour All-American camp but drew most headlines off the field.
In this story:

The Under Armour All-American camp in Atlanta, Georgia, drew many elite prospects. It will be one of the most premier events of the spring; roughly one-hundred P5 prospects competed in front of the media.

Few stars shined brighter than Mike Matthews. The Parkview High School standout flourished at wide receiver, making several one-handed grabs and torching defensive backs over the afternoon.

Matthews is one of the most polarizing names in America. He's kept his recruitment relatively open despite logging 30 offers and plenty of high-major interest. However, it became apparent on Sunday that his recruitment won't stay open for much longer.

He has confirmed an official visit with USC, but no date has been set. Matthews kept things close to the vest about other official visits he may take; prospects are allowed five officials.

While he hasn't scheduled an official, Tennessee may be Matthews' favorite school. The two parties have been flirting for quite some time, but sources confirmed that interest is deepening. He was recently on campus for Tennessee's Junior Day and had plans to return in the spring.

The Volunteers are a front-runner to get an official visit from Matthews. He is impressed with the atmosphere and is on record praising the coaching staff.

It seems he intends to play wide receiver in college. The positional fit is natural; Matthews is as smooth as they come and has eye-popping athleticism at 6-2 and 180 pounds. He could play defensive back in college but spent most of Sunday at receiver.
