Mike Williams Narrows Recruitment, Includes Tennessee
Mike Williams is a 6-foot-7-inch, 315-pound, three-star offensive tackle out of Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Baltimore, Maryland, in the class of 2024. He had 16 offers but cut his list down to his top eight schools via Twitter on Saturday. The list included Tennessee, as well as South Carolina from the SEC.
He included Maryland from his home state and nearby Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Michigan State, Miami (FL), and USC (Southern California) round out the list. Tennessee was the last school to offer him to make the list, having done so in just late February.
Williams' size alone makes him a very intriguing prospect. You can teach technique, but you cannot teach 6-foot-7. From the tape, Williams may have been too reliant on his size for success, but he is still young and can improve even before he steps on a college campus.
Even without outstanding technique, he will be tough to get around in both the run game and the pass game, especially if he adds on even more weight, which should be expected. It appears as of now that Maryland is the most likely to land Mike Williams, but Tennessee will surely do what it can to change that. Volunteer Country will continue to update the situation as new developments arise.
