Tennessee Official Visitor Capsule: Kamarion Franklin
Official visits for the upcoming class of 2024 are starting to come into the picture for the Tennessee Volunteers football team. Five-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin has an upcoming visit with the Vols this weekend on June 16th. Tennessee is not the only school in the mix for Franklin. Some major programs in the running include Auburn, Miami, Florida State, and Ole Miss. Ole Miss is a heavy favorite to land him.
Franklin received an offer from the Volunteers back on November 21st, 2021. It was right around this time when Ole Miss and Florida State also offered him. The potential in the defensive prospect from Mississippi is enormous and multiple teams see it within him. In the 2022 season, Franklin set his high school's single-season sack record (19). He also had 93 tackles, three blocked kicks, and a fumble returned for a touchdown last season.
Prospect: Kamarion Franklin
Projected Position: Defensive Lineman
Vitals: 6-5, 265 pounds
High School: Lake Cormorant High School (Lake Cormorant, Mississippi)
Frame: Franklin has a towering frame. He possesses a lot of size in both height and weight. This helps him with the tough battles he fights nearly every play in the trenches at the line of scrimmage.
Athleticism: Franklin has uncanny agility for a player of his size. This comes in handy for block shedding and lateral movement for stopping from coming from opposing backfields. He also plays basketball for his high school, which helps to add speed that can translate onto the football field. The speed also allows him to crash the pocket and cause pressure on opposing quarterbacks quickly.
Instincts: Franklin's uncanny ability to read snaps makes him a very intimidating prospect. His reaction time is great, and division one college is ready for the next level. His instinct also allows for a limited amount of mis-tackles on his part, and he does not let many offensive players get past him.
Polish: As said previously, Franklin has the size, speed, and reaction awareness that is ready for the best level of college football. His presence at the line of scrimmage creates issues for any opposing offenses. He is a huge asset for any defense looking for someone extra disruptive.
Bottom Line: Franklin is clearly one of the most talented defensive players in this upcoming class. He is a difference-maker for any team needing that extra edge on defense. The prospect out of Mississippi is a force off of the line of scrimmage that can be a huge plus for any football team in any game.
