Four-Star OG William Satterwhite Flashes Fascinating Upside
2024 four-star offensive guard William Satterwhite (Akron, Oh.) sits tucked away in the midwest, comfortably in the heart of Big Ten country. Ohio State, Michigan, and other Big Ten powers routinely dominate the area, but Satterwhite has his sights set on playing his college football in the south, either in the SEC or ACC. Tennessee and Clemson are battling it out for one of the top linemen in the class, with an announcement pending any day.
It truly feels like a coin flip with Satterwhite. Tennessee held the momentum for a long time, but then his official visit to Clemson vaulted the Tigers over Tennessee. Coming off his Tennessee official visit, both schools are neck and neck. Two elite programs are battling until the final day for Satterwhite, indicating that we should pay attention to him moving forward. The high school tape is excellent, as it looks different than what most high schoolers put on tape.
Framing isn't discussed enough when evaluating offensive linemen, and it's because most don't have it. A college offensive line coach prays for prospects that can come in and understand how their job aligns with everyone else on the field. Satterwhite's first priority when run blocking in the alley isn't throwing his defender into the ground; it's sealing the edge for his running back. While he could pancake his man for a highlight, it also may clog traffic and limit a 75-yard touchdown to a 23-yard gain. The telling thing about Satterwhite's run blocking is that his running back is usually sprinting in green grass when the clip cuts.

Satterwhite plays right tackle for his high school club, but his frame will make him transition to guard in college. However, he already pass protects like a guard. Satterwhite's first instinct is to gain depth in his set before locating his matchup. He's an exceptional hand-fighter at the point of attack, often rebuffing the defender's first attempts. In Tennessee's offensive system, Satterwhite would only have to stop that first action before the ball is out of the quarterback's hands. The fit between the two is natural and certainly one to consider as we inch closer toward a decision.
