Three-Run Seventh Inning Haunts Longhorns in 6-5 Kansas State Loss: Live Game Log
The Texas Longhorns (22-9, 5-2) are back in action on Saturday as they look to clinch the series victory over the Kansas State Wildcats (19-13, 5-5).
While was a dramatic series opener, it took until the late innings for the fun to truly begin. Both starters were excellent on the mound, with Lucas Gordon tossing six innings of two-run baseball with nine strikeouts while Owen Boerema gave the Wildcats seven innings of four-run baseball with 12 strikeouts.
Boerema had the Longhorns lineup completely lost on the mound, taking a 5-1 lead into the eighth in what appeared to be disappointing loss for Texas. However, the Longhorns reeled off four straight runs before recording an out and eventually took a 6-5 lead on a Tanner Carlson sacrifice fly that plated Porter Brown.
Zane Morehouse would then come on in the ninth inning to shut the door on the Wildcats and record the save, securing the come from behind 6-5 win in the series opener.
Now, the Longhorns look to keep that momentum rolling and clinch the series win on Saturday.
