The longest active winning streak in the country currently belongs to the Texas Longhorns, who have reeled off 15 straight wins to improve their record from 4-7 to 19-7 and 3-0 in conference play.

While baseball is a long season, the Longhorns are just under halfway done with the regular season and have put themselves in a position to potentially host a regional come June.

Of course, that could all change, but for now the Longhorns are firing on all cylinders. The offense has roared to life after a slow start which in turn has only made life easier for a pitching staff that was already shutting down opposing lineups.

When the Longhorns' win streak reached 11 straight some discounted it as a product of a weak stretch of non-conference games. To nullify that claim, however, they went out and swept Texas Tech and won a midweek road game against Texas A&M to make it 15 straight and silence critics for now.

Now, though, they remain on the road for a tough three-game weekend series against the No. 17 Oklahoma State Cowboys

A look at Oklahoma State's season so far

The Cowboys, like the Longhorns, got off to a somewhat rocky start and found themselves sitting at 3-3 early in the season. After that, though, they ripped off a 12-game win streak while going 17-3 since that point.

Oklahoma State by the numbers

Record: 20-6 (4-2)

Runs scored: 222

Runs allowed: 136

Team Avg.: .314

Team ERA: 4.69

Oklahoma State wins this series if...

It can rattle the Longhorns pitching staff early and force them into their bullpen sooner than they'd like. The Longhorns do have strong bullpen arms but the depth on the backend has been shaky early in the season. If the Cowboys can crack the Longhorns rotation and bullpen then it could be a series win and a snapping of the Texas winning streak.

Texas wins this series if...

Much like the Cowboys, it can keep the bats rolling as they have been on this winning streak. The Longhorns pitching staff has shown it can get the job done against tougher lineups, which in turn means it falls on the offense to produce run support. This winning streak has seen plenty of clutch hits, and if they show up in Stillwater it could keep on climbing higher.
