Longhorns Host No. 1 LSU in Midweek Showdown

The Longhorns finish up their five-game homestand with a matchup against the No. 1 Tigers.

In terms of early season midweek games, there are not many more highly anticipated than Tuesday's matchup between the Texas Longhorns (3-4) and No. 1 LSU Tigers (6-1).

There is zero doubt that this will be the toughest opponent to date for the Longhorns in their February schedule.

The Longhorns have bounced back in strong fashion after a shaky 0-3 start, winning three of four games so far in their five-game homestand - which concludes after hosting LSU.

They notched their first win of the season in a dominant 12-2 midweek win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi last Tuesday, and will look to replicate that success against LSU.

Of course, that will be easier said than done as the Tigers are the No. 1 team in the country and have looked like it through seven games.

Now, here is everything you need to know about Texas' midweek game against LSU - from how to watch to a breakdown of LSU so far this season.

How to watch:

Tuesday @ 6:30 p.m. CT (Longhorn Network/TexasSports.com/audio)

LSU by the numbers

Record: 6-1

Runs scored: 69

Runs allowed: 28

Team Avg.: .328

Team ERA: 3.98

LSU wins this game if...

They can contain the Longhorns lineup and keep the bats quiet. While this hasn't been a hard task to do at times this season, if LSU can keep Texas quiet it'll be in good shape on Tuesday. The Tigers offense has had no trouble putting up runs so far this season, and might not have any trouble doing so against Texas on Tuesday.

Texas wins this game if..

Much like LSU, they can contain the Tigers bats. For the Longhorns, though, that is a much harder task to accomplish. The Tigers have put up 69 runs through seven games, and the Longhorns won't have the benefit of one of their weekend starters going. As such, if they can slow down the Tiger offense even slightly then they might pull off the midweek upset.
