Longhorns Falter Again, Walked Off in 6-5 Missouri Loss

The Longhorns come up just short of a come from behind win again, this time suffering a walk-off loss against Missouri.

ARLINGTON - It was another one-run loss for the Texas Longhorns (0-2), who were handed a walk-off 6-5 loss at the hands of the Missouri Tigers (1-1) on Saturday.

Saturday started off in a similar fashion as Friday, with the Longhorn offense struggling to get anything going. However, while Lucas Gordon pitched a gem on Friday, Zane Morehouse struggled early for Texas.

Missouri put up a run in the bottom of the first, which Texas answered in the second when Daly scored on a throwing error by the first baseman. However, the Tigers immediately took the lead back following a three-run second.

Morehouse ultimately lasted four innings allowing four runs, three of which were earned, and recording four strikeouts. The rest of the Longhorns pitching staff allowed two runs on six hits over the final five innings, with eight strikeouts.

Texas put together multiple comeback attempts, with a two-run fourth inning that cut the lead to one and then a two-run seventh that made it a 5-5 ballgame. The Longhorns, though, stranded two men in the eighth before being walked off in the ninth inning.

What's next for Texas?

The Longhorns finish up their College Baseball Showdown weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday morning. First pitch between the Longhorns and Commodores is set for 10:30 a.m. CT.
