There are just 10 games left in the regular season for the Texas Longhorns as they look to put themselves in a position to bring home a conference title and potentially host a regional come June.

Doing so, however, will be much easier said than done with the Longhorns currently sitting in third place in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma State in second and West Virginia in first.

After their embarrassing sweep at the hands of Oklahoma, Texas managed to bounce back in strong fashion. In a crucial three-game road series against TCU, that had major postseason implications for both teams, Texas left Fort Worth with a much-needed conference series win.

Now, the Longhorns are on the road once again for their final road series in conference play as they travel to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks. A series win or sweep could put Texas in a position where its final series at home against West Virginia is for the conference title.

A look at Kansas' season so far

It has been a very up and down season to this point for the Jayhawks, especially as they have gone through their conference schedule. They have looked impressive at points with a series win over West Virginia and a sweep of Baylor, while also struggling mightily have been swept three times in the Big 12 against TCU, Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

Kansas by the numbers

Record: 21-24 (6-12)

Runs scored: 300

Runs allowed: 301

Team Avg.: .278

Team ERA: 6.20

Kansas wins this series if...

They can take advantage of the inconsistency in Texas' pitching on both Saturday and Sunday. The Longhorns know what they're getting from Lucas Gordon on Friday nights, but behind him has been inconsistent - with both the starters and bullpen struggling to string together strong outings. If the Jayhawks can get into the Texas bullpen early they could leave this weekend with a major upset.

Texas wins this series if...

The team that showed up against Oklahoma doesn't make an appearance in Lawrence. Texas managed a strong bounce back performance against TCU in road series win, and it will need to do so once again against Kansas. If the Longhorns can leave Lawrence with another series win or sweep, they will put themselves in a possible position to compete for the conference title against West Virginia to close out the season.
