Longhorns Win Series Against Spartans With 18-6 Rout: Live Game Log

The Longhorns look to finish their final non-conference series with a series win against the Spartans.

The Texas Longhorns (34-18, 12-9) are back in action on Saturday afternoon as they look for the series win against the San Jose State Spartans (24-23) in the finale of their final non-conference series of the regular season.

It was a doubleheader for the Longhorns on Friday as the regularly scheduled Friday-Sunday format was adjusted to avoid any potential inclement weather on Saturday and Sunday. 

Game one was not kind to the Longhorns, at least the final innings weren't that is. They took a 4-3 lead into the eighth inning which the bullpen promptly surrendered, giving up three runs in the eight and one in the ninth of what was a brutal 6-4 series opening loss. 

A loss, though, that fueled the Longhorns to an absolute rout of the Spartans in the second half of the doubleheader. It was a 24-3 drubbing for Texas, as Eric Kennedy led the way going 4-of-5 at the plate - including a grand slam and a three-run home run which accounted for seven of his eight RBIs. 

Now, the Longhorns go for the series win and keep a close eye on Big 12 play ahead of what could be an important series against West Virginia next weekend.
