The Texas Longhorns (33-17) came into their final midweek of the season against the UT Arlington Mavericks (25-22) riding a mini two-game winning streak after taking the final two games of their series against Kansas

Looking for their third straight win, the Longhorns turned to Charlie Hurley on the mound to start. Hurley was able to put his recent struggles behind him, at least for now, as he cruised through the first four innings of his start against the Mavericks.

He did run into some trouble in the fifth but managed to limit the damage to two runs, which brought his final line to five innings of two-run baseball with five hits scattered across those five innings to get back on track as postseason draws closer and closer.

At the plate the Longhorns had no trouble flexing their muscle as they put up 10 runs on 12 hits, with every single member of the starting lineup getting on base at least once. Dylan Campbell stayed red hot at the plate with a first inning walk extending his on-base streak to 33 games and a two-run single in the second running his hitting streak up to 27 games.

Elsewhere in the lineup it was a slugfest for Texas, with three different players launching home runs. Peyton Powell and Porter Brown both went deep with two-run home runs while Jared Thomas stayed locked in at the plate with a solo home run of his own.

Altogether, it was another strong showing for the Longhorns with a 10-5 win in their final midweek game of the season. Now, they turn their attention to the final six games in hopes of positioning themselves at a chance to bring home a conference title and to get red hot entering postseason play.

What's next for Texas?

The Longhorns are back in action this weekend for their final non-conference games of the regular season, kicking off a three-game series against the San Jose State Spartans on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
