Longhorns Drop Series Finale to TCU 15-7: Live Game Log
The Texas Longhorns (30-15, 10-17) are back in action once again on Monday as they look to complete a three-game series over the TCU Horned Frogs (23-20, 7-10) on the road.
After riding an offensive explosion of eight runs, five of which came via the home run, in an 8-4 series opening win the Longhorns turned around on Sunday to take a low-scoring affair and win the series.
TCU took an early 2-0 lead after the second inning but the Longhorns would tie it up in the third on a Peyton Powell RBI double and Dylan Campbell sacrifice fly. From there, it was all pitching for the Longhorns.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. entered out of the bullpen and proceeded to give Texas 6 1/3 shutout innings on the mound. Texas took a 3-2 lead for good in the eighth on a Powell RBI single.
It was a dramatic finish as David Shaw came in to close out the game for Texas, getting a fly out to shallow left which Porter Brown turned into a laser to home to record a game-ending double play at the plate.
Now, the Longhorns look to complete the series sweep and turn to Tanner Witt on the mound for the first time since last season.
