San Diego Stuns Texas 6-5 in Extras to Tie Series: Live Updates

The Longhorns look to clinch their first series win of the season against San Diego.

The Texas Longhorns (1-0) could not have asked for a better start to the 2024 season than the one they had on Friday night against the San Diego Toreros (0-1). A strong showing from the pitching staff and timely clutch hits carried the Longhorns to the win.

Starter Lebarron Johnson Jr. received the no-decision after five strong innings of two-run baseball, limiting the damage and getting himself out of multiple jams before turning it over to the bullpen. 

Eventually the bats came roaring to life with a five-run sixth inning, capped off by a grand slam off the bat of Jalin Flores with two outs. They would add an insurance run in the eighth inning with an RBI triple from Peyton Powell. 

Now, the Longhorns turn their attention to Saturday afternoon and a chance for their first series win of the year.
