Championship Bound: Winner of Oklahoma State vs. BYU Will Determine Texas Longhorns Big 12 Title Opponnent

The Texas Longhorns are bound for the Big 12 title game. All that remains is determining who they will face: The Oklahoma Sooners or the Oklahoma State Cowboys
In this story:

AUSTIN, TX -- The Texas Longhorns have officially clinched a berth in the Big 12 Championship game in Arlington next Saturday, dismantling the Texas Tech Red Raiders 57-7 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

And with it, a statement to the College Football Playoff committee

Before they can worry about the CFP, however, they must take care of their opponent in Arlington to be named, and take care of business at AT&T Stadium.

So, who will the Longhorns face? It will be one of two options.

Option 1) A meeting with the Oklahoma State Cowboys

If No. 21 Oklahoma State wins on Saturday in Stillwater vs. the BYU Cougars, the Cowboys will punch their ticket to Arlington for a matchup with the Horns.

Texas did not face the Cowboys in their final Big 12 regular season, meaning that their last matchup ever vs. Oklahoma State could come on the biggest stage possible.

Oklahoma State last won a Big 12 title in football in 2011 and would love to send the Horns packing to the SEC, and out of the CFP with their next one.

Option 2) A rematch with the Oklahoma Sooners

If Oklahoma State loses to BYU on Saturday, the Sooners will get the nod, bringing the Big 12 a rematch of the October 7 showdown in Dallas.

It might be a nightmare scenario for Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, but for the rest of the college football world, it is the best possible option.

For the Horns, it will be a chance to avenge their only loss of the season and send one last message to the CFP committee. For the Sooners, it will be a chance to play spoiler for their arch-rival.

No matter who the Longhorns face, however, the third regular season under Steve Sarkisian - the program's first 11-win season since 2009 - can be considered nothing but a resounding success.
