Fan Reactions to Texas Longhorns Win Over Kansas State Wildcats
The Texas Longhorns have improved to 8-1 this season after taking down the Kansas State Wildcats 33-30 in overtime on Saturday.
At one point, in the third quarter, the Longhorns took a massive 24-7 lead, but the Wildcats were able to catch up and force overtime play. The fact that the Horns came out with the win is most important to Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the roster, but how they secured a win was mind-boggling.
Instead of attempting a field goal to potentially tie the game in overtime, Chris Klieman, Kansas State's head coach, chose to risk a fourth-and-goal try with his offense on the field. The Wildcats could not convert and fell to the Longhorns, 33-30.
The Longhorns' performance along with Klieman's play calling has caused social media to react in numerous ways.
"Phew," one fan said. "Texas survives another week."
"Chris Klieman is an IDIOT," another wrote. "Longhorn Nation thanks you."
Although Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy completed 19-of-37 pass attempts for a total of 248 yards and one touchdown, he threw two picks. His performance as a starting quarterback has caused some Texas fans to bring up the return of injured quarterback Quinn Ewers.
"Love my Longhorns," one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "I will back any QB who's repping Texas, but can we please stop the QB1 talk? Quinn Ewers is QB1 and is for a reason."
For other fans, this win against the Wildcats has caused a look towards the future for the Longhorns, one game closer to a potential Big 12 Championship matchup.
"Unbelievable," another fan said on X. "Somehow Texas won this football game. Season goals still alive."
