Pair of Longhorns Named to NFL All-Time Undrafted Team

While there are plenty of Texas legends that have heard their name called, the Longhorns have also had successful players get signed as undrafted free agents.
In this story:

When the NFL draft rolls around next month, the Texas Longhorns are seemingly set to have a player drafted in the first round in almost a decade - with running back Bijan Robinson poised to hear his name called on night one.

While Texas is no stranger to having its players drafted after all the Longhorns have had an impressive 352 players drafted in their history. However, they've also seen multiple players put together successful careers despite going undrafted.

In fact, a recent All-Time NFL Undrafted Team by Raider Maven saw a pair of Longhorns land on the list in running back Priest Holmes and kicker Justin Tucker.

It isn't hard to see why Holmes likely went undrafted out of Texas, as he only recorded 1,276 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his four seasons as a Longhorn. After a modest college career, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 1997.

Holmes would go on to have a 10-year career with the Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, rushing for 8,172 yards and 86 touchdowns.

He won a ring with the Ravens, but his best years came with the Chiefs - with an Offensive Player of the Year Award in 2002 and then a record of 27 rushing touchdowns in a single season in 2003.

As for Tucker, it isn't all too surprising when a kicker goes undrafted out of college - even when said kicker was an impressive 40-for-48 on kicks in his college career. Tucker, like Holmes, was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2012.

Since entering the league Tucker has cemented himself as arguably the best kicker in NFL history. In 11 seasons he has missed just 38 field goal attempts and boasts an NFL record field goal percentage at 90.5 percent.

Tucker has racked up numerous accomplishments in his NFL career, from a Super Bowl ring to five First-Team All-Pro nods and is likely not done anytime soon.

So, when the draft rolls around there will likely be a handful of Longhorns drafted - but you never know which undrafted free agent has the potential to join Holmes and Tucker as NFL legends.
