Zeke Elliott OUT in Dallas; Bijan Robinson to Cowboys?

Ezekiel Elliott is on his way out with the Dallas Cowboys. Does his exit clear a path for Texas Longhorns star Bijan Robinson in Arlington?

The NFL future of Texas Longhorns star running back Bijan Robinson may be coming more into focus.

According to a report from Cowboys insider Clarence Hill on Wednesday, Dallas is set to release former Ohio State Buckeyes star running back, Ezekiel Elliott.

The release could happen as soon as Wednesday afternoon.

Said Hill:

Per a source close to the situation, the Cowboys are set to part ways with the two-time NFL rushing champ and the running back is preparing to start fresh with a new team.

The move could come as soon as Wednesday afternoon when the league’s 2023 calendar officially begins at 3 p.m. and teams are required to be under the salary cap.

And with the Cowboys and Robinson already linked on multiple occasions over the last few weeks, it now seems inevitable that the Cowboys would pursue the former Longhorn in the draft next month.

While joining the already dynamic Cowboys offense would certainly be a dream for Robinson, who could step in and be a major centerpiece right away, it is a little less clear for the Cowboys.

Yes, Bijan is a top-5 talent in the draft.

And yes, the Cowboys would without a doubt love to have him on the roster - as would any NFL team.

Where this idea becomes a bit murkier, is determining how much the Cowboys actually value the running back position.

That said, it would likely all depend on if the Cowboys are willing to trade up to get him, because, in all likelihood, Robinson will surely be off the board when the Cowboys pick at No. 26 in the first round.

And with Zeke now out in Big D, If Robinson does manage to fall to the Cowboys, things could get interesting.
