WATCH: Bijan Robinson Makes Pitch For Texas as College Football's 'RBU'

Bijan Robinson made a pitch during the NFL combine, naming Texas as college football's 'RBU'
In this story:

The Texas Longhorns have had their fair share of legendary running backs, and recently Bijan Robinson joined those ranks, winning the Doak Walker Award as the nation's top running back.

Now, he is expected to be the first running back taken off of the board in the 2023 NFL Draft and was the loan prospect at the position with a first-round grade heading into the NFL Scouting Combine.

And after showing out during his combine workout, while cementing his place as the draft's top back, Robinson made his pitch to the nation on why he thinks Texas is the top school in the country for running backs to play football.

"For me, it was a great choice for me to get to Texas, but all these guys here set an example on and off the field," Robinson said at the NFL Scouting Combine while pointing at Ricky Williams, Earl Campbell, D'Onta Foreman, Tashard Choice and Steve Sarkisian. "And Texas really does mature you to be a great young man, obviously off the field be a respectable young man, but also be a great running back."

There have been plenty of great running backs to come out of other schools, but Texas is hard to argue with as 'RBU', boasting names Earl Campbell, Roosevelt Leaks, Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes, Jamaal Charles, D'Onta Foreman, Cedric Benson, and now Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson.

And now, with Cedric Baxter, Jaydon Blue, and Jonathan Brooks already on the 40 Acres, and prospects such as 5-star Jerrick Gibson taking a serious look at Austin, that tradition has every chance to continue.

Oh, and Robinson made a pitch to Gibson and other prospects while he was at it too.

"Coach (Tashard) Choice, he's got like three of the No. 1 running backs in each class," Robinson continued. "So just seeing that, that's how I know we're heading up in a great direction. "But, all the running backs out there, give Texas a lookout, and you'll become great. Just stay on the right path, and just remake the model and how it is right now."

Are there other contenders for the title? Sure. Ohio State, USC, Alabama, Oklahoma and Miami, are just a few.

But with the future now turning to Robinson and Johnson in the NFL, and Baxter, Blue and Brooks back on the 40 Acres, the future has never been brighter for Burnt Orange backs.
