Longhorns Among Top Five Highest Recruiting Budgets
In their second season under head coach Steve Sarkisian, the Texas Longhorns took a step forward. Beyond the improvement from five wins to eight wins and a bowl game appearance, it felt clear the Longhorns were an improved team in 2022.
Of course, there is still a lot more room for improvement, but they managed to add three more wins which is a start. However, winning in college football goes beyond winning on Saturdays.
If you want to be a contender in college football you must recruit at an elite level - which the Longhorns have under Sarkisian.
Yes, Texas often sells itself, but it also realizes the importance of recruiting and thus had a Top 5 2022 recruiting budget according to USA Today.
The budget is clearly working on the recruiting trail as the Longhorns have signed back-to-back elite recruiting classes, 2023 especially. Headlined by Arch Manning, the 2023 class paired with the 2022 class could set the Longhorns up for sustained success under Sarkisian.
As the Longhorns look to get back to being national championship contenders, continuing to recruit at an elite level is a must - and if their 2022 budget is any indication, that will be a continuing trend for Texas moving forward.
