The Texas Longhorns have one of the best tight ends in the country on the roster in Ja'Tavion Sanders, but they just secured another for the class of 2024.

Three-star tight end Jordan Washington signed his letter of intent with Texas on Wednesday. Washington chose the Longhorns over in-state rivals Texas A&M UTSA and Arizona State.

Washington cited his close relationship with Texas tight ends and special teams coach Jeff Banks as a main reason for his decision to choose the Longhorns.

"I would say my relationship with coach Banks is like a best friend,” Washington told On3 when he committed in July. “Like we both clicked. I picked up on what he was trying to say and he did the same with me. He plans on developing me into a great tight end, and maybe the best in college football.”

The Houston native is the No. 29 tight end and the No. 84 player in the Lone Star State, according to 247Sports Composite.

Washington took his official visit to the Forty Acres on June 16 and was impressed by the Longhorns' pitch, as well as his host, J'Tavion Sanders. He also appreciated the proximity to his family.

“The connection I had with my host, which was JT Sanders and coach Banks," Washington said in July. "They are both such great people. They both know what they are talking about and I’m also not far away from family at all. I have family there too in Austin. We all came to this decision and all knew it was the place to be. I know that if I keep this up I have the ability to play at the start.”
