'Don't Overlook Kansas': Quinn Ewers & Texas Know Not To Take Jayhawks Lightly

Texas is still scarred from their losses to Kansas, and now the program is is among the best in the country
In this story:

Outside of the last couple of seasons, the Kansas football program was among the worst in the country.

In fact, you still have to go all the way back to 2008 before you can even find their last season where they finished above .500.

Last season they made a bowl game, but injuries to star quarterback Jalon Daniels derailed what had the makings of a magical season and they finished 6-7. Now, the Jayhawks are squarely in the mix as one of the stronger teams not only in the Big 12 but the country.

Something that star Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers acknowledged when speaking to the media and addressing the importance of not overlooking any team on the schedule.

"They're a great team. Obviously, they're undefeated. We go into every game like it's a championship game. We don't overlook any opponent."

While this may seem like typical respect your opponents speak, Ewers and Texas are well aware of what a loss to Kansas can do to a program. Head coach Steve Sarkisian likely still has flashbacks to the overtime loss to Kansas at home that took place during the first year of his tenure as the Texas head coach.

This matchup is slightly different, as both teams are ranked in the top 25 with Texas coming in at No. 3 and Kansas ranking as the No. 24 team in the country.

Based on the odds provided by ESPN, Texas comes into the game as 17.5-point favorites, with their matchup predictor giving them a 93.5 percent chance at winning.
