Steve Sarkisian Reacts To Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yorkmark Attending Texas Longhorns vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
In what will be their final regular season game in the conference, the Texas Longhorns will host Big 12 commissioner Brett Yorkmark when they face off against Texas Tech in Austin.
During his Monday press conference, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian reacted to the news of Yorkmark's visit, telling the media that he wants to 'put on a show' for the commissioner.
"Hopefully we put on a heck of a show for him. That's what I want. He's the commissioner of our conference, and I'm hopeful that when he watches us play he's proud of the way that we play representing the Big 12 because that's the conference we're in right now."
The Longhorns, of course, are set to enter the SEC this summer, leaving the Big 12 behind after more than 25 years inside the conference.
Yorkmark, took a jab at the Longhorns ahead of the season when speaking to Texas Tech fans, saying it was a 'big deal' to get rid of the conference's two flagship schools.
"Candidly, we were able to get Texas and Oklahoma out of here early," Yormark said before the season. "That was a big deal for us and I think [for] all of you. Coach [McGuire], I'm not going to put any pressure on you, but I'm gonna be in Austin for Thanksgiving, OK? And you'd better take care of business like you did right here in Lubbock last year."
Steve Sarkisian Updates Injury Status Of Several Key Longhorns Ahead of Texas Tech
Saturday will not only be the Longhorns' final Big 12 regular season game but their final scheduled matchup with Texas Tech, who has been a bitter rival of the Horns since 1928.
Texas leads the all-time series with the Red Raiders 54-18 and has won 17 of the last 22 matchups.
Should the Longhorns win as expected on Saturday, they will book their ticket to the Big 12 Championship in Arlington.
