Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian Updates Injury Status of Xavier Worthy, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and DJ Campbell Ahead of Texas Tech
The Texas Longhorns earned a hard-fought victory over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday night, putting them one win away from the Big 12 Championship game.
However, that win did not come without a cost, with multiple key Longhorns players - including starters Xavier Worthy, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and DJ Campbell suffering injuries.
On Monday during his weekly press conference, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian gave an update on those injuries, and all things considered, it was as good as Longhorns fans could hope for.
In fact, he expects all three of those players to be available Friday night vs. the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
"That was a physical game Saturday night. We had a variety of guys that went down," Sarkisian said. "I don't foresee any of those guys being out Friday. We need to monitor that as the week goes, but I do feel confident enough today that everyone who was available Saturday night will be available Friday night."
Worthy was perhaps the most notable injury for the Horns on Saturday after leaving the game in the second half and reportedly being 'unable to put weight' on his injured leg after the injury.
Worthy left the game with four catches on eight targets for 77 yards.
Campbell was also knocked out for the remainder of the game with a lower-body injury and did not return. He was replaced by former starter Cole Hutson in the lineup.
Sanders, meanwhile, was able to return to action during the game. And while he finished with just two catches for 32 yards, he was key in the run game, helping to pave the way for C.J. Baxter to have a big night.
