Longhorns 2024 National Championship Odds Revealed

Despite losing a host of talent to the NFL next season, the Texas Longhorns odds at a 2024 national championship are higher than you might think.

The talk around the trajectory of the Texas Longhorns program has been sky-high over the last few weeks.

And despite falling in the Sugar Bowl, and losing several key players to the NFL Draft next season, there is a growing sentiment that the Horns will have a great shot at getting back to the College Football Playoff in 2024.

Now, it appears that Las Vegas Agrees, with the Horns currently holding the fourth-best odds of winning the 2024 national title at +900, behind perennial national title contenders Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State, per BetOnline.ag

The Longhorns also rank ahead of Michigan, Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida State, Penn State, Texas A&M, and Tennesee, among others.

And they rank ahead of those teams despite losing some of their biggest impact players, such as Xavier Worthy, T'Vondre Sweat, Byron Murphy, Johnathon Brooks, and Jordan Whittington to the NFL - with more likely to follow.

So why is Las Vegas so high on the Horns? Well, the first answer is that, as of now, they seem likely to return an elite quarterback in Quinn Ewers, who seems poised to take the next step in 2024.

The Horns are also returning the majority of their offensive line, two running backs in Jaydon Blue and Cedric Baxter who proved to be major difference makers after the injury to Brooks.

Texas also acquired some of the top talent in the NCAA Transfer Portal with safety Andrew Mukuba, edge rusher Trey Moore and receiver Matthew Golden, who will all fill major holes in the roster when they step foot on campus.

They are also likely not done making acquisitions there.

Combine that with the young talent already on the team like up-and-coming receiver Johntay Cook, the multiple true freshman starters on the defense, and their top-3 recruiting class, and it is easy to see why the Horns could be right back in the thick of things in 2024.
