WATCH: Texas Regains Lead vs. Alabama After INT, Quick-Strike TDs
Just when Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide appeared to have snatched the momentum away from Texas after a 49-yard touchdown in Saturday's clash at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Longhorns answered.
Continuing to look poised, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was surgical on the drive right after Alabama's score. After another pass interference penalty on the Alabama defense, Ewers was able to locate and hit a wide-open Ja'Tavion Sanders who took it 50 yards into the red zone after weaving all over the field to avoid the Alabama defense.
The Longhorns didn't take long to score after that huge play either.
Ewers unleashed a quick strike into the end zone to a wide-open AD Mitchell who hauled in the short pass for the score and the lead.
The Longhorns regained the lead and just needed a huge stop from the defense which they immediately got.
With the Crimson Tide trailing now, Milroe appeared to want to force the issue on Alabama's first possession after the score. A decision that may be the difference between them winning and losing the game, as he had his pass picked off and returned to the red zone by Jerrin Thompson.
Similar to their previous offensive drive, the Longhorns didn't need a lot of time to score as thanks to the interception they were in prime field position. Ewers handed the ball off to Jonathan Brooks who powered the ball into the end zone for the score.
The two-touchdown swing gave Texas an 11-point lead and all of the momentum before the Crimson Tide responded with a quick score of its own.
