Cowboys 'Obsessed' With Getting A RB Says Todd McShay; Trade Up for Bijan?

While Robinson is seen as a first-round pick by most analysts, Todd McShay lists a scenario which sees him end up in Dallas.
In this story:

As we approach the NFL draft next week the Texas Longhorns are poised to see one of their players go in the first round for the first time since 2015, with running back Bijan Robinson seen as a consensus first rounder.

The question with Robinson, though, is where he ends up being drafted. He has been mocked to multiple teams, from the Buffalo Bills to the Detroit Lions, with analysts finding it difficult to peg down which team lands the superstar running back

Another strong possibility that has been consistently mocked for Robinson is him staying in Texas and going to the Dallas Cowboys at No, 26 overall. However, ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay was on the Dan Patrick Show and revealed another scenario which could see Robinson land in Dallas.

"I still hold this out, Dallas is obsessed with getting a running back that can be their guy," McShay said. "Be a complement to Tony Pollard like they had with Zeke when Zeke was closer to his prime. Mike McCarthy is dying for a big power back like that. He wants to run the football."

"They want to be a run-based team, and they would love to bring the Texas star into Dallas and make him the star of their offense. Dallas is sitting at 26, and it wouldn't shock me if they made a splash, jumped into the teens ahead of teams like Detroit and the Chargers, and went and got Bijan around 14, 15 or 16."

While there is some meaningful debate around the value of a first-round pick on a running back, let alone trading up for one, Robinson is ready to buck that trend. The Doak Walker winner rushed for 1,580 yards and 18 touchdowns in his final season as a Longhorn while adding 19 receptions for 314 yards and two touchdowns.

If he is the guy that the Cowboys feel they need to walk away from the first round with, trading up could make sense. Doing so would add a Tony Pollard complement and further elevate one of the NFL's best offenses.
