With the Texas Longhorns learning their 2024 Southeastern Conference opponents on Wednesday's SEC Network schedule reveal, there's a lot to be excited for after they depart the Big 12 after next season.

Texas will renew its "Lone Star Showdown" rivalry with Texas A&M, retain its annual Big 12 "Red River Showdown" rivalry against Oklahoma and play Florida for the first time since 1940, but none of those were SEC Network analyst Takeo Spikes' "I have to be there" game for the 2024 season.

Instead, Spikes opted for the Longhorns' home game against the Bulldogs at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

"This goes all the way back to being inside of the locker room," Spikes said. "The guys from the state of Texas and the guys from the state of Georgia, they will argue with each other about who has the better athletes. And now, it's a little home cooking going on. They'll be able to see exactly where they end up depending on who wins this game."

In five meetings, Texas leads the all-time series 4-1, including a statement win in the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The matchup could feature a face-off between the No. 1 players in the 2023 and 2024 classes if Quinn Ewers departs for the NFL after next season and Arch Manning and Dylan Raiola win the Texas and Georgia starting quarterback jobs, respectively.
