Four-Star CB Santana Wilson Commits to Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns picked up a big time commit on Saturday evening.

The Texas Longhorns recruiting train keeps rolling right along. And on Saturday, they picked up one of their biggest commits yet, in four-star Desert Mountain High (Scottsdale, AZ) cornerback, Santana Wilson.

Wilson picked the Longhorns over pursuit from a variety of top-level programs that were much closer to home, including Arizona State, Washington and Oregon.

“When I came out I just got the real family feeling and I knew this was the place I can call home,” Wilson told On3 Sports. “Then on top of that the facility and just the way everyone is always together and caring for one another.”

One of the main reasons behind Wilson's commitment to the Horns, was his relationship to the coaching staff.

In particular, Wilson has developed a close bond with Longhorns defensive backs coach Terry Joseph, who is his primary recruiter on the staff.

“Definitely Terry Joseph," Wilson told On3. "I mean it’s really everyone on the defensive staff because my dad knows everyone up here and I know they’re gonna take care of me. TJ basically brought me under his wing. Press man corner. Just like how they move right now. They love press man one on one matchups and I’m all about that.”

Wilson now becomes the fourth commitment of the 2024 class for Texas, alongside quarterback Trey Owens, defensive back Hunter Moddon, and kicker Michael Kern.
