Longhorns WR Jordan Whittington Reveals Decision for Next Season

Texas Longhorns receiver Jordan Whittington had the first fully-healthy year of his collegiate career this past season.

Texas Longhorns receiver Jordan Whittington will return to the team for a fifth year next season, he announced Friday.

Whittington has had a rollercoaster career since arriving to the Forty Acres in 2019 after being recruited as a running back by former Texas coach Tom Herman. He suffered multiple injuries during his first few seasons that severely limited his ability to see action on the field.

But in 2021, he officially had the individual coming-out party he'd been waiting for with the arrival of coach Steve Sarkisian.

Even though the Longhorns went 5-7, Whittington finally made a major on-field impact, as he had 26 catches for 377 yards and three touchdowns. However, his season was cut short once again by a clavicle injury he suffered against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Still, Whittington used this to build into this past season, where he posted a career-high in catches (50) and receiving yards (652) while adding one receiving touchdown. And finally, he had played in every game of the season for the first time in his collegiate career.

He'll be one of the top offensive weapons in Sarkisian's offense next season.
