Texas Lands Five-Star No. 1 Offensive Tackle Brandon Baker

The Longhorns added a massive commitment from 5-Star Offensive Tackle Brandon Baker on Sunday night
In this story:

AUSTIN - The Texas Longhorns are on fire on the football field to start the 2023 season, sitting at 4-0 and ranked No. 3 in the country.

Now, it seems they are fire on the recruiting trail as well, landing a commitment from five-star Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA) offensive tackle Brandon Baker on Sunday night.

Baker Chose the Longhorns over other national powers such as Ohio State, USC, Nebraska and Oregon.

He currently ranks as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country by both Rivals.com and 247Sports, while ESPN ranks him as the No. 2 tackle, and On 3 ranks him as the No. 7 tackle.

So why did the California native decide to make the decision to make his way to Austin?

The trajectory of the program played a major role. Also, a guy named Arch Manning.

“The trajectory they’re headed on for sure,” Baker told On3. “The development by one of the best OL Coaches in the nation, and an offensive mind at head coach. Can’t really beat that, they’re headed in the SEC, and you cannot beat blocking for my guy Arch Manning! Life after football is incredible, and the opportunity is endless.”

Baker is also close with Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood, who according to Baker, has compared him to current Longhorns star left tackle, Kelvin Banks.

“I’m closest with Coach Flood,” Baker told On3. “His plan for me is to be a key contributor to the team. Comparing me to Kelvin Banks and Jedrick Williams.”
