Texas Longhorns Open As Heavy Favorites Over Oklahoma State For Big 12 Title Game
The Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma State Cowboys both sealed their fate over the weekend, as the two top teams in the Big 12 will be heading to Arlington for the conference title game.
The Longhorns achieved this by winning out after losing to Oklahoma back in October, sealing their appearance in the game with a blowout win over Texas Tech. The Cowboys secured their spot in the dance with a win over BYU, in a game that went into double overtime. With the game taking place on December 2, you best believe there are already odds for the title matchup and they heavily favor the Longhorns.
According to ESPN, the Longhorns are favored by 12.5 points as of Sunday and have an 87.3 percent chance of winning.
The appearance for Texas marks the first time since 2018 when they lost to Oklahoma that they have made it to the Big 12 title game. A victory would mark the first time since 2009 that they have won the Big 12, which would be quite the way to go out for the SEC-bound Longhorns. As for Oklahoma State, they made just one Big 12 title appearance back in 2021, which they ended up losing to Baylor.
The Longhorns lead the all-time series between the teams, posting a 26-11 record, but it is the Cowboys who have won the last two meetings, as they beat the Longhorns in Stillwater last year and in Austin the year prior. A win for Texas keeps their College Football Playoff hopes alive.
The Big 12 Championships is set to kick off at 11:00 a.m. CT and will air on ABC.
