Texas Longhorns Makes Statement With Lopsided Win Over Texas Tech Red Raiders
The college football world, whether it be fans, analysts, or even the team itself noticed Texas' biggest flaw over the past few weeks and knew it could ruin their season.
The flaw in question was their inability to finish games out, as they blew multiple 20-point leads. They were able to hold onto to win each game, but questions about just how good they were began to arise, especially with Oregon peaking at the right time.
To close out the season, their Big 12 tenure, and to clinch a trip to the Big 12 title, the No. 7 Longhorns hosted Texas Tech. While they were heavily favored, all eyes were on Texas to see if they would fumble the prime opportunity they had, or finally handle business.
It was the latter and in a convincing fashion. Texas went on to win 57-7, and were able to silence their in-state rivals who got the best of them last year and claimed that the Big 12 ran through Lubbock.

Again, while it was a game Texas should have won and was favored by three scores, they may have kept their name in the College Football Playoff discussion.
The past month, when analysts talked about Texas and their resumes, it was to mention that they seemed to have peaked a while ago. It also didn't help that they lost their star running back for the year, which was just another cautionary thought about Texas.
The massive win paves the way for them to be back in the playoff discussion without a "but" by their name. They just need to continue to handle business and win the conference title, otherwise, their hopes will be dashed.
