Texas QB Quinn Ewers, Longhorns 'Really Bought In' To Coaches' Offseason Message
There's been an outside perception that the Texas Longhorns mean business in 2023, and now one of their own has confirmed those thoughts.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers told ESPN's Hannah Wing at Big 12 Media Days that the Longhorns have had a different intensity about them ahead of a year in which they are projected to take home the conference title.
"I can see the difference in how we carry ourselves," Ewers said. "Whether it's summer workouts or spring ball, I think this offseason we really bought in to what the players are saying, what the coaches are saying, and really we're all just on the same page. I'm just ready for the season."
The Longhorns' hunger has been brewing for the last 14 years — how long it has been since they've last won a Big 12 title.
As Texas sets to move to the Southeastern Conference next season, it is now or never to take home the Big 12 crown.
The Longhorns' 2023 success starts with Ewers. When he is clicking, the Texas offense, with the weapons it has, can be one of the best in the country.
The Southlake, TX. native said head coach Steve Sarkisian's and his teammates' faith in him helps his mental approach to the game.
"It's definitely a big confidence boost for the head coach to believe in you," Ewers said. "Not only him, but the players as well. It's a huge confidence boost. Year 2 has definitely, so far, been a lot more comfortable for me. I'm really settling in. I've been able to build great friendships, and, ultimately, we all want to play for each other so that only helps."
