Roschon Johnson Named Bears 'Most Interesting' Draft Pick

Roschon Johnson will head to Chicago looking to make a name for himself as a rookie with the Bears.
In this story:

It was a strong NFL draft showing for the Texas Longhorns as five players heard their name called just one year after they didn't have a single player drafted in the 2022 draft.

Headlining their draft class, though, was their dynamic running back duo of Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson. Robinson of course was drafted No. 8 overall to the Atlanta Falcons while Johnson went in the fourth round to the Chicago Bears at pick No. 115.

While there will be plenty of debate surrounding the value of Robinson for Atlanta, CBS Sports listed Johnson as the most interesting pick of Chicago's draft class while grading the pick a B+.

"Bijan Robinson's running mate is a former four-star quarterback who moved to running back. He blocks and is a good special teamer. Maybe this is a running back/protection hybrid selection," CBS Sports wrote.

Johnson might not start out of the gate for the Bears in the backfield but he is going to a situation that could suit him as a rookie, with Chicago being a team that loves to run the ball.

He joins a talented backfield that features Khalil Herbert and fellow Longhorn D'Onta Foreman as well as a quarterback in Justin Fields who is deadly with his legs. Whether Johnson sees early playing time at running back or is primarily a special teams player as a rookie, he will have a chance to make a strong first impression with Chicago.
