Urban Meyer Makes Prediction For Texas' Matchup Against Kansas
There's an alternate universe somewhere out there where Urban Meyer is on the sidelines coaching Texas, but instead, he chose to give the NFL an unsuccessful go.
That was now three years ago, and Steve Sarkisian finally has this Texas program where the fans have felt they should've been all along; in title contention. Texas last won the Big 12 in 2009 and has cycled through a couple of different coaches with Meyer not being one of them. However, while Meyer is no longer coaching he is a college football analyst for Fox, and has not been shy when it comes to expressing how good he thinks Texas is this year.
He has already gone on record and said the team is loaded, and in a recent interview with On3, he dropped a crucial prediction in favor of the Longhorns over Kansas this week. Meyer expressed that while he likes how far No. 24 Kansas has come, he still is taking No. 3 Texas to win on Saturday.
“I think they beat Kansas,” said Meyer. “I’m not taking away from Kansas. I just like Lawrence, too. I’ve been there a couple of times. I just never quite understood why Lawrence, Kansas can’t, can’t have a good quality football team. And now they have a good quality football coach. So I hope this coach stays there because he’s really doing a great job there.”
Texas is hoping to replicate their showing from last season which saw them blow out Kansas by a score of 55-14. With a win over another ranked team that is one of the best in the Big 12, Texas will continue to solidify just how good they are.
The Longhorns are facing off against Kansas for what could be the last time, with Texas heading to the SEC next season.
