'We Aren't In Tuscaloosa Anymore': Texas Nearly Reverts To Old Form In Wyoming Win
We all know what happens after a night out on the town, while it's fun at the moment we quickly regret it the next day.
While No. 4 Texas doesn't regret beating Alabama, we saw firsthand against Wyoming that the Texas we have seen for the last decade is still in there. For the longest time, the notion around Texas is that they'll beat or compete with teams better than them but play down to inferior opponents.
This isn't to diminish how good of a team Wyoming has, but if Texas truly is one of the better teams in the country they cannot only get up for marquee games.
Wyoming led throughout the first quarter, and while Texas took the lead in the second the Cowboys were able to tie it again. This game was peak-Quinn Ewers not playing up to his potential, which is surprising when you consider he was the one that went viral for scheduling a players-only meeting.
A week after having a "Heisman moment" Ewers reverted back to the quarterback that was missing throws, and lacking that edge.
Granted, the Longhorns will stay able to come out victorious and explode in the fourth quarter but Texas fans are hoping that this was a wakeup call.
On the bright side for Texas, the offense played poorly and still won by 21 points. The defense continues to look like one of the best in the country and for the first time since 2012 when David Ash was leading the offense, the Longhorns are 3-0.
