Longhorns' Rodney Terry 'Wouldn't Change Anything' for Big 12 Title vs. Kansas

Even as the No. 7 Texas Longhorns prepare for a matchup against the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, Rodney Terry admitted he won't alter the flow his guys are in as an attempt to get "better" with March Madness approaching.

Texas Longhorns coach Rodney Terry knows the challenge that's in front of his team Saturday night at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.

But even as the No. 7 Longhorns prepare for a matchup in the Big 12 Championship against the defending national champs, regular-season conference winners and No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks, Terry admitted he won't alter the flow his guys are in as an attempt to get "better" with March Madness approaching.

"I wouldn't change anything in terms of trying to get better," Terry said Friday. "I think our guys are guarding as well as they've guarded all year. We'll have an incredible challenge against one of the top teams in the country."

Considering that the Longhorns never trailed despite making just two 3s in Friday's 66-60 win over the No. 22 TCU Horned Frogs, it's hard to argue against the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" cliche.

Led with scrappy defense, the Longhorns have allowed 60 points or fewer in each contest during their current three-game winning streak, which began with a 75-59 win over the Jayhawks in Austin on March 4 to close out the regular season.

Changing up the approach now before the most important moments of the season would be unwise, which further shows Terry's experience when it comes to just letting his team be themselves.

After all, allowing pressure to mount before the NCAA Tournament begins could cause some self-created adversity.

But as he's shown all season, Terry has his group in the right headspace with a potential Big 12 title on the line and March Madness around the corner.

"What I like most about our team right now is they're just living in the moment," Terry said. "We talk about it all the time, play in the present, live where your feet are, enjoy this journey ... stay hungry, and this group's done that."

The Longhorns and Jayhawks tip-off at 5 p.m. CT.
