AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns are over a month into their offseason, but coach Rodney Terry keeps raking in the postseason honors.

Terry was named the Clarence “Big House” Gaines College Basketball Coach of the Year on Tuesday, per an announcement from the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). The award was first presented after the 2010-11 season and helps honor a coach "who may not earn recognition from mainstream outlets."

Terry also won the Sporting News Coach of the Year, which was announced even before the Longhorns won the Big 12 Tournament Championship. But he certainly lived up to it in the weeks to follow, as Terry led Texas to three NCAA Tournament wins and the program's first appearance in the Elite Eight since 2008.

The list goes on and on for Terry and the 2022-23 Longhorns, who proved to be one of the best teams in program history. Texas finished with the third-most wins in school history (29), a nation-leading 10 wins against ranked opponents and a 17-1 record at home.

The Longhorns now head into next season with some uncertainty, as Terry's will still need some additions. But with star forward Dylan Disu returning and Texas landing a commitment from Virginia transfer Kadin Shedrick, Terry has a solid foundation to build on ahead of his first season as the program's head coach.
