Longhorns Basketball: Current Look at Projected Roster for Next Season
AUSTIN, Texas -- After powering through multiple moments of uncertainty this offseason, the Texas Longhorns have bounced back in a major way by adding some elite talent via the transfer portal and securing the return of two starters from last season.
The Longhorns and coach Rodney Terry still have more moves to make before the action begins this November, but now have a solid look at what the roster looks like headed into what should be an interesting 2022-23 season.
As of Monday, Texas' two returning starters are forward Dylan Disu and guard Tyrese Hunter along with having four transfer additions. Forward Dillon Mitchell seems unlikely to return after seeing his draft stock rise recently and joining Creative Artists Agency. Nothing is official on Mitchell's end, but hiring an agent appears to be the latest move of confidence that he'll be drafted.
The wing spot of the starting lineup currently feels a bit tentative, as the Longhorns will likely need to acquire one more starting-caliber player with spot-up shooting ability to play off of Abmas and Hunter. For now, we'll leave that spot blank, but here's how the roster is shaping out.
Projected starters:
G Max Abmas
G Tyrese Hunter
F - TBD
F Dylan Disu
F/C Kadin Shedrick
Bench:
G Chendall Weaver
F Ze'Rik Onyema
F Brock Cunningham
F Alex Anamekwe
F Cole Bott
G Gavin Perryman
F Preston Clark
