Longhorns Alumni Reveal Roster for $1 Million TBT Tournament

Nine former members of the Texas Longhorns men’s basketball program are set to compete in the 2023 The Basketball Tournament.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Former members of Texas Longhorns men’s basketball are banding together for The Basketball Tournament, an annual 64-team, single-elimination tournament with a $1 million payout for the winner.

The nine Texas Exes will make up the squad for “Austin’s Own” and will be the first team of former Longhorns to ever compete at the tourney when this year’s 10th addition of the event tips-off later this summer. 

Game dates and times are still TBD.

Here’s the roster:

  • Andrew Jones (2016-22)
  • Kerwin Roach II (2015-19)
  • Jordan Hamilton (2009-11)
  • Cam Ridley (2012-16)
  • Dexter Pittman (2007-10)
  • Myck Kabongo (2011-13)
  • Sterling Gibbs (2011-12)
  • Alexis Wangmene (2007-12)
  • Clint Chapman (2007-12)

While they weren’t able to recruit guys like Kevin Durant and Myles Turner in moves that would essentially secure the title, this roster still comes with tons of experience across the board.

Headlined by recent Texas alumni like Jones and Roach along with a former multi-year NBA player with Hamilton and a NBA Champion in Pittman, the Longhorns sport and interesting yet talented roster that certainly appears capable of winning the whole thing.

All of these guys have either previously or are currently playing professionally. Jones is nearing the end of his first season with Rasta Vechta in Germany’s Pro A league.

“Austin’s Own” will have their work cut out for them in a tournament that will feature a slew of other former professional players, but they're certainly capable of going all in for that $1 million reward.
