OFFICIAL: Four-Star Jordon Johnson-Rubell Signs With Texas
AUSTIN - Steve Sarkisian has snagged another one.
Except this time, it was on the defensive side of the ball, with four-star safety Jordon Johnson-Rubell signing with the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday.
Johnson-Rubell picked the Longhorns over heavy pursuit from the TCU Horned Frogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Ohio State Buckeyes.
And apparently, the move to the SEC, along with Pete Kwiatkowski's scheme played a big role in that decision.
“I could definitely see myself in their scheme," Johnson-Rubell told On3 in June. "They run the same scheme we do at IMG. Talking about the SEC more was different. At first, it was just a thing but now it’s actually happening. Them talking about the SEC, how they’ll do certain things, and who they’ll play is new to me and I liked hearing it.”
The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American second-team selection last season, after helping IMG force 30 turnovers throughout the season.

Johnson-Rubell moved to IMG from Texas for his junior and senior campaigns, making the MaxPreps Freshman All-American team in 2020, and being named a Texas 3-5A-I first-team all-district selection for Fort Worth Brewer as a sophomore in 2021.
Johnson-Rubell is now the fourth defensive back commitment to sign with the Horns on Wednesday morning, joining Xavier Filsaime, Kobe Black and Wardell Mack.
