AUSTIN - Steve Sarkisian was not pleased with the Texas Longhorns' first three quarters of their 31-10 win over the Wyoming Cowboys on Saturday night.

That much is clear. However, that doesn't mean things were a total disaster for the Horns either.

In fact, if you ask Sark, it was quite the opposite, with the Horns coach praising the team's resiliency to win when they were not at their best

"That's what championship teams do, they find a way to win when they're not at their best," Sarkisian said. "And tonight, it's safe to say we were not at our best, but we found a way to win."

Safe to say, indeed. The Longhorns not only struggled out of the gate but failed to put together any semblance of an offensive attack until late in the third quarter.

But as Sarkisian noted, the Alabama win, and the circus that followed after, may have played a role in the issues on the field Saturday night.

"It's human nature to sometimes get distracted by that and you lose sight of what's right in front of you," Sarkisian said. "I think it showed in the first half, especially offensively."

That would be an easy trap to fall into for any team - much less one that hasn't seen consistent success as of yet.

In fact, it was a similar challenge faced by the 2005 Longhorns after their 25-22 win against Ohio State in Columbus.

That team would go on to take care of business in a big way in Week 3 against Rice winning 51-10.

The difference? Maybe it was experience or top-to-bottom talent. Or maybe it was simply the level of the opponent.

Whatever the case, the Longhorns are 3-0, and that is all that matters.

And thanks to the culture that Sark has built in his locker room, they were able to overcome the issues and take care of business - even if it wasn't the prettiest outing from a Sarkisian-coached team.

"We've got a real level of trust on our team that we lean into," Sarkisian said. "We talked about the culture at length. I really think this team is together. They stick together."
