Bijan Robinson Debuts At Third String on Falcons Depth Chart
AUSTIN - The Atlanta Falcons selected Texas Longhorns star Bijan Robinson in the top half of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft this spring, hoping that he could provide a spark to an offense in desperate need of playmakers.
But as training camp comes to a close, and preseason football is set to begin, it appears that Robinson will have to make up some ground before he sees the field on a consistent basis.
According to the first depth chart released by the team, Robinson currently sits at third string in the running back room behind Cordarrelle Patterson and Tyler Allgeier.
That said, it should be noted that it has been a standard practice for Arthur Smith to place rookies at the back of the depth charts at this time of year.
Last season, rookie wideout Drake London was also listed at the back of the wide receiver list ahead of the preseason. And by the time the regular season came around, London was a major part of the Falcons' plans.
The same will likely be said for Robinson in one way or another, and despite the admittedly effective tandem of Patterson and Allgeier, and given his immense talent and game-breaking ability, it is hard to imagine the former Longhorns star sitting on the bench for long.
Robinson will make his preseason NFL debut Friday against the Miami Dolphins.
