Texas Dubbed College Football's 'Most Dangerous Team'

The Texas Longhorns look poised for a huge year in 2023.
In this story:

The sky seems to be the limit for the 2023 Texas Longhorns football team... at least according to the pundits.

With Steve Sarkisian entering his third year at the helm of one of the most talented rosters in the country, and arguably the best in the Big 12, experts around the nation have not been shy about putting pressure on the Longhorns entering next season.

On Monday, that continued to be the case, with 247Sports analyst Brad Crawford tabbing the Longhorns as the nation's 'most dangerous team.'

Why the Longhorns are dangerous: Texas will be in the playoff, according to 247Sports' way-too-early bowl projections. This team has one of the nation's most-equipped rosters in getting through the Big 12 and finishing inside the top four, regardless of what happens at Alabama in Week 2. It would certainly help if the Longhorns find a way to win that one. With several members of an elite 2023 signing class ready to play early and playmakers everywhere on offense, Texas is primed to be one of the teams in the conversation all season long.

Other teams on the list included the USC Trojans at No. 2, Penn State at No. 3, Wisconsin at No. 4, Tennessee at No. 5, South Carolina at No. 6, Kansas State at No. 7, Texas A&M at No. 8, UCLA at No. 9, and Tulane at No. 10.

Of course, as Crawford states, the Alabama matchup looms large for Texas. But, even if they end up falling in Tuscaloosa, the Horns will still have every opportunity to compete for a conference title and potentially even a playoff berth.

That will be easier said than done, however. Gone are Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, who were arguably the two best offensive players on the team last season. And likewise, DeMarvion Overshown, Keondre Coburn, Moro Ojomo, and D'Shawn Jamison from the defense.

Despite that, the Longhorns are loaded on both sides of the ball, particularly at the most important positions on the field - quarterback, offensive line, defensive line wide receiver, and cornerback.

So, if there is going to be a team to upset the status quo in the recent college football world, why not Texas?
