Texas LB DeMarvion Overshown To Meet With 6 NFL Teams Before Draft

DeMarvion Overshown will be a popular name to watch for this upcoming NFL draft cycle.

Former Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown could be one of the first off-ball playmakers selected in this month's draft. Now, he's taking several road trips to get a feel for where he could call home to begin his NFL career.

According to NFL Network, Overshown met with the Dallas Cowboys on Monday as part of a local visit. He also expected to meet with the Houston Texans as part of an in-state local visit, as well as the Miami Dolphins, Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos as part of a Top-30 visit.

The Cowboys could be looking for a long-term running mate to pair opposite former Defensive Rookie of the Year Micah Parsons. Despite signing former first-rounder Leighton Vander Esch to a two-year deal worth up to $11 million, depth could pay dividends for the NFC East franchise as it looks to return to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1995 under fourth-year coach Mike McCarthy.

The Texans, who recently hired former Pro Bowl linebacker and San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans, could be in a similar boat. Houston signed former Pro Bowlers Denzel Perryman and Corey Littleton as part of its free agent class, but both are only on one-year contracts. And while the Texans have former Alabama standout, Christian Harris, Overshown could take over as the "Mike" backer, allowing Harris to play in space.

Denver, Miami, Atlanta, and Arizona could all use depth with starting upside at the inside linebacker position under each of their respective new defensive coordinator. All four teams will be making a switch at defensive coordinator, while Arizona and Denver hired brand new staffs under first-year coaches Jonathan Gannon and Sean Payton, respectively.

The Falcons hired Ryan Nielsen from the New Orleans Saints to replace longtime veteran Dean Pees. Should Atlanta change its formation to a 4-3, perhaps Overshown would be a more suitable fit to play multiple positions.

Miami, who fired Josh Boyer after finishing 18th in total yards allowed and 24th in scoring, will turn to longtime defensive guru Vic Fangio. Fangio, who previously coached the Broncos from 2018-21, has been considered one of the top defensive minds in the sport, consistently punching out top-10 units with the Niners and Chicago Bears.

Earlier this offseason, the Dolphins agreed to terms with Tennessee Titans linebacker David Long Jr. on a two-year deal worth $11 million.

A three-year starter on the Forty Acres, Overshown is considered one of the top linebacker prospects in the class due to his open-field consistency and production. Last season, he recorded 96 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks in 12 games.

Overshown was named a first-team All-Big 12 member in 2022 after finishing second on the team in tackles behind junior Jaylan Ford. For his career, he's registered 249 stops, 30.5 tackles for loss, 17 pass deflections, nine sacks and three interceptions.

According to scouts, Overshown is projected to be a mid-round pick, likely hearing his name called somewhere in the early stages of the third round. The draft will take place in Kansas City, Mo., starting on April 27.
