'No Chick-fil-A!' Longhorns’ Quinn Ewers Reveals Secret to Better Body

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers revealed the secrets to his offseason body transformation to the media on Thursday.
In this story:

AUSTIN - Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is not only a new quarterback in terms of his confidence and preparation on the field.  He has also made a dramatic physical transformation as well.

And we aren't just talking about shaving off his mullet.

Ewers, who ended last season at 218 pounds, has entered fall camp looking like a completely new person, dropping his weight significantly over the last few months.

"Around 200 (pounds)," Ewers said of his current weight. "I think the highest I got to I believe the Washington game, I was around 218 pounds."

A weight that was making Ewers feel a bit sluggish at times in 2022.

"Yeah," Ewers admitted. "A little too heavy for me"

But how did he do it? While some may think that the offseason weight training program is solely to thank. Ewers also admitted another secret to his success - laying off the fast food, and taking responsibility for his diet.

"Laid off the Chick-fil-A that I was having a lot," Ewers admitted. "Big Chick-fil-A fan. And, you know, just not as much fast food. I was more focused on you know, eating what the University provides. Higher doses of protein, less carbs, more vegetables, just the healthy stuff and nothing too much to it besides just trying to eat healthier."

Now, just weeks ahead of the season, Ewers is allowing himself to indulge again, but only at select times, and has continued to remain vigilant over his choices in food.

His cheat meal of choice? Barbecue wings.

"Nowadays I do because I'm comfortable with where I'm at," Ewers said. "As of recently, I've been going back towards the wings. I like some barbecue wings."

Now looking like a new man, and with a heap of weapons at his disposal, Ewers hopes to parlay his transformation into a more successful season this fall.

That quest will begin September 2 against the Rice Owls in Austin.
