Texas Longhorns Volleyball Lands Two 2025 Commits

The Texas Longhorn volleyball program is looking towards the future and recently secured two 2025 commits. One happens to be an Austin local.

The reigning 2022 Texas Longhorns volleyball national championship team has secured two commitments, one from the local Austin area. The already-loaded roster still has room for talent and improvement, especially when current seniors, such as middle blocker Asjia O'Neal, move on from the Forty Acres in the coming year.

The indoor program landed two commitments for the 2025 recruiting class: libero Callie Krueger and outside hitter Abby Vander Wal.

Kreuger, approaching her junior year at Cedar Park High School, upholds the position of both setter and libero for the Timberwolves. However, once the 5-foot-5 athlete puts on a burnt orange and white jersey, she will most likely be utilized for more of a defensive role. During her two years as a starter for the Timberwolves, Kreuger has locked in 944 digs and 330 assists in her career.

"Thank you Coach Jerritt, Coach Erik, and Coach David for helping make my biggest dreams come true," Kreuger posted to Twitter on June 15.

On the other hand, Wal is easily one of the best youth attackers in the country. About to begin her junior season at Timothy Christian High School around the Chicago area, averaged 5.1 kills per set during the 2022 season. The 6-foot-3 player averaged a kill percentage rate of 54.3 percent as her team went 31-8 and reached round No. 4 of its state playoffs in 2022.

Wal was also recently a part of the U.S. under-19 team roster at the Pan American Cup held in Puerto Rico.

Texas head coach Jerritt Elliott and the rest of the indoor staff will be pressing more 2025 commits in the coming months in hopes of securing another national title for the Texas volleyball program soon.
