UCLA Football: Bruins Left Off Top 25 Early Big Ten Rankings
The UCLA Bruins have wrapped up their signing day, much like the rest of the colleges have done so, but it might not have been as great as the NCAAF world thinks. There have been a wealth of players who have entered the transfer portal from UCLA.
Take DBs Kamari Ramsey and John Humphrey who both left the Bruins to follow D'Anton Lynn. QB Dante Moore also left for a place where he felt he could be "developed."
The exodus of players and the signing day recruits have led to the team being left off the all-too-early rankings for the Big Ten in 2024.
According to Bleacher Report's early signing day rankings:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Michigan
4. Oregon
5. Texas
6. Utah
7. Ohio State
8. Ole Miss
9. Oklahoma
10. Clemson
11. Notre Dame
12. Penn State
13. Arizona
14. Florida State
15. LSU
16. Washington
17. Missouri
18. Kansas State
19. Oklahoma State
20. Iowa
21. North Carolina State
22. USC
23. Miami
24. SMU
25. Kansas
Early rankings should always be taken with a grain of salt, but it appears that the consensus is UCLA won't even be in the top 25 teams heading into next year. We would argue against this list, but Kelly might have his back against the wall with how many players entered the transfer portal.
At the very least, Kelly needs to put together a defense that brings together some secondary help and a new defensive coordinator that will impress everyone as D'Anton Lynn did.
As it stands right now, the Bruins might be in a bit of trouble to start their journey in the Big Ten.
